The Mt. Vernon Summer Reading Challenge!

Join us for our Summer Reading Challenge! Youth who sign up are challenged to read six books of their choice during the summer holiday. Collect prizes for each book read and submit book reviews to share with others. Read six books to earn a certificate of achievement. (Prizes will be offered weekly at the church for each book read.)

Everyone is invited to join in and share what you are reading this summer. All reading is encouraged. Books featuring persons of color will be available for youth to check out at the church and return. Youth may read any book of their choosing for this summer enrichment program.

Reading throughout the summer months while school is out will lessen the effect of the Summer Slump/Summer learning loss/Summer slide (the loss of academic skills and knowledge during summer break).
